December Caregiver of the Month

By Pete Lane, 8:00 am on

We selected Nancy Hancock as our Caregiver of the Month because she has WOW’d our clients this month with her caring and dedication. At Home Care Assistance of Centennial, we have a mission of changing the way the world ages and are proud to have caregivers such as Nancy who share our vision and constantly provide the highest level of quality care to our valued clients.

A Little About Nancy

Nancy loves being a caregiver because put simply, she loves clients and loves helping people.

She enjoys helping people stay in their home and be comfortable, enabling them to avoid a facility.  Nancy wants clients to feel like someone cares, and make their day happier by getting them to smile and feel in a happy mood, especially the ones who don’t have family and kids.  She loves her job – anytime she can go in and help someone laugh and feel better about their day is what she’s about.

When Nancy became interested in caregiving, she was living in Michigan.  She applied and interviewed with a home care agency, and had not previously done any caregiving.  Part of the process included her being interviewed by the client.  The client in question was a little 85 pound lady who had osteoporosis, cancer, and was bedridden.  She needed 24 hour home care.  There had been other caregivers interviewed, but when Nancy interviewed with the lady she said to her: “I like you, you’re hired!”  Nancy had not done caregiving before, and the lady trained her on transfers and all other manner of care for her.  Nancy worked with her from 1999 – 2003.

Nancy enjoys doing activities with clients and is currently taking one of her clients line dancing and swimming.  Overall, anytime she can make anyone laugh or make their day a little brighter – that is her favorite activity.

Nancy’s favorite parts of working for Home Care Assistance is that she likes that we are open to suggestions in the office and listen to her feedback.  She likes her hours, and that Home Care Assistance has resources to teach about cooking and likes all the training she can take because it gives her new ideas to try with her clients.
