The Women’s Foundation 21st Annual Luncheon will take place this Thursday at the Colorado Convention Center. The respected Colorado foundation hosts this annual luncheon in an attempt to “boldly lead systemic change that will advance economic opportunities for all women and girls in Colorado.” In addition to a handful of guest speakers, Emmy Award-winning Actress America Ferrera from Ugly Betty and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, will be the keynote speaker.
At Centennial Home Care Assistance we believe that this is a great event for individuals of all ages to continue learning and offers our community of elders an opportunity to share their wisdom and experience with the younger generation. This luncheon provides a healthy and safe atmosphere for peer socialization while spurring on every generation of woman to live a well-rounded and fulfilling life.
The event will run from 11:30am to 1:15pm and general admission tickets are available for $125 while VIP admission is $250. However, free admission is available to those who volunteer! Volunteers are needed all day on Thursday for help laying out nametags and greeting guests as they arrive. If you or an aging loved one would like to sign up as a volunteer, call 303-285-2970 to speak to a volunteer coordinator.
Why volunteer you ask? Studies show that volunteering is an activity that can help lead to a longer and healthier life, specifically for seniors. When older adults volunteer, they are provided with the opportunity to strengthen social ties which can protect them from isolation during difficult times. The experience of helping others also leads to a sense of greater self-worth and trust. If you provide care for an aging loved one at home, these are only a few of the reasons to encourage them to attend or volunteer at local events like the Denver luncheon!
